Sofonesia’s Ultra Shutdown application can perform the following actions: shut down, restart, stand by, hibernate, log off, lock a Windows-powered PC. These actions can be triggered manually or automatically.

You have three options if you want to manually shut down your PC. When you launch Ultra Shutdown, a floating window shows up on screen; click the red button from the left hand side to shut down your PC. While Ultra Shutdown is running, you will see an icon in the system tray; right click it and select the option to shut down your PC. Or better yet, you could use the Ctrl + Alt + S hotkey to shut down your PC.

If you want to automatically shut down your PC, you must open the Main Window. From it you can instruct Ultra Shutdown to automatically shut down your PC after a set amount of time passes (in 10 minutes for example) or at a certain time (at 2PM for example). From the Main Window you can also access a scheduler and schedule shut down tasks to run once at a certain time (on Tuesday at 2PM), every day at a certain time (every day at 2PM), or every certain day at a certain time (every Tuesday at 2PM).

It must be mentioned that Ultra Shutdown has a privacy cleanup feature that will empty the Recycle Bin, erase the Recent Documents list, clear typed URLs in Internet Explorer, clear Internet Explorer history, clear played files list in Windows Media Player, remove cookies, clear Paintbrush history, and clear the contents of the TEMP folder.

Ultra Shutdown is not free, it is only free to try. You can use it for free for a trial period of 14 days. The setup wizard that guides you through the installation process clearly presents this fact.

With Ultra Shutdown you can manually or automatically perform one of these actions: shut down, restart, stand by, hibernate, log off, lock a Windows-powered PC.

Pros

Thanks to a simple setup wizard, you will quickly install Ultra Shutdown on your Windows PC. There’s a floating window that you can place anywhere you want on the screen. Ultra Shutdown’s Main Windows is easy to navigate. Use Ultra Shutdown to automatically or manually shut down your PC.

Cons

Trial limitations: 14-day trial.
